Cat-loving prefecture - route map

・A map of national highways and routes in the prefecture where cats are a big fan.

A unique feature is that the route numbers are assigned using wordplay based on the names of different body parts of a cat, so as to circle the island.

While Honshu and other areas use one- to three-digit numbers, this prefecture uses four-digit numbers for the reasons mentioned above.

• Although there are national highways in the inland areas of the island, only the outer perimeter routes are currently listed.

National Route 2533 (Cat Ears)

The highway got its number because it runs right through the shape of a cat's ear. A national highway with cat ears that stand straight up.

Prefectural flag

As a symbol of this prefecture, the design was chosen from submissions made by the public and officially adopted in 1954 (Prefectural Notice No. 222, September 1954).

The design for the paw print was decided in September 1954 (299/nikukyu), a play on words, and the official notification, No. 222, also had a good ring to it, with "nya nya nyaa," leading to its establishment.

The paw print mark is specified as being in white, with a navy blue background.

The white outline represents the beauty and elegance of cats, while the navy blue background represents the color of the sea, as the prefecture where my cats live is an island.

This number was chosen because the cat purrs when it's in a good mood.
