The symbol of the cat-loving prefecture
The prefectural flag and emblem of this prefecture.

01
Prefectural flag
As a symbol of this prefecture, the design was chosen from submissions made by the public and officially adopted in 1954 (Prefectural Notice No. 222, September 1954).
The design for the paw print was decided in September 1954 (299/nikukyu), a play on words, and the official notification, No. 222, also had a good ring to it, with "nya nya nyaa," leading to its establishment.
The paw print mark is specified as being in white, with a navy blue background.
The white outline represents the beauty and elegance of cats, while the navy blue background represents the color of the sea, as the prefecture where my cats live is an island.
02
Prefectural emblem
It was established at the same time as the prefectural flag to promote a strong sense of local pride among the citizens and to ensure the development and improvement of the prefecture (Prefectural Notice No. 222, September 1954).
